Allah has focused on the importance of ‘charity’ and ‘spending in his way’ in the Quran many times. There are several verses in the Holy Quran which tell us about its importance. One of these verses is in the Suran Baqarah (verse 215).
They ask you, (O Muhammad), what they should spend. Say, “Whatever you spend of good is (to be) for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveler. And whatever you do of good – indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.”
Spending in the way of Allah is one of the best ways by which I keep my heart in a peaceful condition.
Most of the time in life we think of saving money for various reasons like to secure our future, for our children’s future or buying things for our comfort and luxury. But do we really think of spending money on a person who is poor, who is in dire need of money?
Spending our wealth in the way of Allah not only brings peace to our heart but it also solves many of our common problems. When you spend in Allah’s way, you are helping to make your society a better place to live. It can help in establishing a Masjid or a Dawah Institute, etc.
By spending a portion of our wealth on our relatives, poor, orphans or any needy, we tend to create a strong bond with Allah. When we create a strong bond with Allah, we will be less inclined towards the things which can drive us away from our main aim, i.e, Jannah.
Therefore by spending our wealth for others we are not only helping others but we are helping ourselves in taking a step towards Jannah and making our Akhirah better.
And whatever good deeds we do Allah knows it well and will reward us for that.
